*SNOW EMERGENCY/WINTER PARKING BAN*
Starting Time: 7:00 PM on Tuesday February 24, 2026
Ending Time: 7:00 AM on Wednesday February 25, 2026
Mayor Samantha Squailia and the Fitchburg Commissioner of Public Works have declared a Snow Emergency and have activated the Winter Parking Ban for the following streets and parking lot(s) to facilitate snow removal:
Academy Street
Pleasant Street
Hastings Parking Lot (at corner of Pleasant Street and High Street)
Mechanic Street
Main Street
Fox Street from Main Street to Elm Street
Hartwell Street from Main Street to Elm Street
Wallace Avenue from Main Street to Elm Street
Grove Street from Main Street to Elm Street
Elm Street from Grove Street to Fox Street
The Snow Emergency/Winter Parking Ban will be in effect from 7:00 PM on Tuesday February 24, 2026 to 7:00 AM on Wednesday February 25, 2026 for the streets listed above only. The duration may be adjusted as needed. Due to need to perform snow removal, this Snow Emergency/Winter Parking Ban will also apply to metered parking.
Per City Code §169-35 it shall be unlawful for the owner, operator or person in charge of any vehicle (other than one acting in an emergency) to park such vehicle on any public street in the City of Fitchburg for the duration of the Winter Parking Ban. Vehicles that violate the parking ban are subject to ticketing, fines, and/or removal at the owner’s expense.
Please also note that per City Code § 169-35:
Handicapped parking areas located in residential zones are EXEMPT from the Winter Parking Ban.
Metered parking may be used from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the Winter Parking Ban, unless specified otherwise.

Note that the Hastings Parking Lot is not available during this Snow Emergency/Winter Parking Ban.
Residents and property owners are reminded that they are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice adjacent to their property per City Code §157-33.
